Manhattan weekend

We were able to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on our family excursion last weekend. We were fortunate to get tickets to go inside the base and the observation deck below her feet and saw the original torch made of stained glass.
The next day we went to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building--again the tallest building in New York since the Twin Towers have been down.
We also walked around and saw Times Square where the kids had chalk drawings done, and we saw the filming of the Kleenex commercial. At the ice rink at Rockefeller Square we watched people skating and saw the rink clear except for one couple. He then got down on one knee and proposed. The whole crowd of passersby cheered--which for a moment seemed to draw us together with all those strangers.
Sunday we attended church with about 200 youth there for choir competitions. We were in the building of the new temple and had a picnic lunch across the street at Central Park.

Just in Time for Easter

Give it up for our favorite duck, Lirby, sporting her new pink crocheted hoody dress. Ordered by Andrea, my 9 -year-old daughter who left subtle hints that Lirby wanted one--about 20 post-its around my room that said "sew Lirby a huddy dress". Lirby joined our family about five years ago at Easter, but this is her first new Easter dress.
